How to install the fixed barcode scanning module in the industrial assembly line?

When installing a fixed barcode scanning module (such as an industrial barcode reader) in an industrial assembly line, it is necessary to take into account accuracy, stability and automation compatibility. The following are standard installation steps and precautions, which are applicable to scenarios such as high-speed conveyors, assembly lines, and sorting systems:

Installation steps (taking conveyors as an example)

1. Select the installation location

Location: The scanner should be installed directly above, on the side or at the bottom of the conveyor to ensure that the barcode is facing the same direction and is not blocked.

Angle: A 30°~45° tilt angle is recommended to avoid vertical 90° causing reflections or misreading.

Distance: Adjust according to the focal length of the scanner (such as the best distance for LV3000U Plus is 10~30cm).

2. Fixed bracket installation

Bracket type: Use aluminum alloy or stainless steel shockproof bracket with universal adjustment function (such as U-clamp or L-shaped bracket).

Fixation method:
Desktop/conveyor bracket: Tighten with M4 self-tapping screws (screw head ≤8.5mm).

Suspended installation: Fixed to the conveyor frame through a hanging bracket to avoid vibration displacement.

3. Wiring and debugging
Power supply: Connect to 24V industrial power supply (some models support 5V USB), which needs voltage regulation and surge protection.
Data line: RS-232 serial port (anti-interference) or Ethernet (supports long-distance transmission) is preferred to avoid USB loosening.
Trigger mode: Set to external trigger (such as photoelectric sensor trigger scanning) or continuous scanning (high-speed assembly line).

4. Scan parameter optimization
Sensitivity: Increase sensitivity to cope with high-speed moving barcodes (such as conveyor belt speed above 1.5m/s).
Fill light: Add coaxial LED light source to eliminate shadows, or choose a scanner with built-in light source (such as red/white light LED).
5. Testing and verification
Test barcode: Use damaged, blurred, and reflective barcodes for pressure testing to ensure a reading rate of more than 99%.
Signal feedback: Output OK signal to PLC after successful scanning, and trigger rejection mechanism or shutdown when failed.

Notes
Environmental protection: Select a scanner with a protection level of IP65 or above, dust and oil proof (such as food workshop).
Anti-vibration measures: Install a rubber pad between the bracket and the scanner to avoid misreading caused by mechanical vibration.
Convenient maintenance: Reserve more than 10cm of space for later cleaning of the lens or replacement of parts.
